Softball Recap: Greenfield/Northwestern Takes a Loss

After flying high against Illini West last Saturday, Greenfield/Northwestern came back down to earth. Greenfield/Northwestern came up short against the Jersey Panthers on Monday, falling 14-6. The loss continues a trend for the Tigers in their meetings with the Panthers: they've now lost eight in a row.

Karissa Ruyle was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring three runs while going 2-for-2. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Kinze Pitchford also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Even though they lost, Greenfield/Northwestern lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Greenfield/Northwestern's defeat dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Jersey, the victory got them back to even at 1-1-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Greenfield/Northwestern will host East Alton-Wood River at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Jersey, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Collinsville at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
