Basketball Game Preview: Middle Creek Mustangs vs. Sanderson Spartans

The Middle Creek Mustangs will head out to challenge the Sanderson Spartans at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Middle Creek fought the good fight in their overtime game against Panther Creek on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell to the Catamounts 63-57.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Yasir Hall, who posted 23 points and five boards. Another player making a difference was Greyson Land, who almost dropped a double-double with 11 points and nine rebounds.

Even though they lost, Middle Creek was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Panther Creek only four assists.

Meanwhile, Sanderson entered their tilt with Cardinal Gibbons on Saturday with eight consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with nine. They took down the Crusaders 68-51.

Sanderson pushed their record up to 23-3 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.8 points over those games. As for Middle Creek, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-12.

Middle Creek came up short against Sanderson in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, falling 60-52. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Sanderson's Nathan Fife, who dropped a double-double with 22 points and 11 assists.
