Baseball Recap: Pavilion's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Wednesday

Pavilion dropped their record down to 12-3 on Wednesday, which also ended the team's six-game streak of wins. They took a 6-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Geneseo Blue Devils. Having soared to a lofty 14 runs in the game before, the Golden Gophers couldn't push the score so high this time.

As for Geneseo, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.4 runs over those games.

For Geneseo's part, Cooper Warner made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Warner has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up a single hit in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Preston Granger was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Bryce Patterson, who went 2-for-4 with one run.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pavilion will face off against Notre Dame Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Geneseo, they will challenge Le Roy at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Oatkan Knights' pitching crew has only allowed 2.9 runs per game this season, so the Blue Devils' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
