Baseball Game Preview: Western Brown Broncos vs. Dixie Heights Colonels

The Western Brown Broncos will venture away from home to take on the Dixie Heights Colonels at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Western Brown will be strutting in after a victory while Dixie Heights will be coming in after a defeat.

Western Brown came out on top against Goshen on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run third inning. The Broncos walked away with a 7-3 win over the Warriors. Surprisingly, this marked the Broncos' fifth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Western Brown's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Alex Weber, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

Meanwhile, Dixie Heights fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Ryle on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Raiders by a score of 8-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Colonels have suffered since April 10, 2024.

Owen Stulz was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Will Steczynski, who went 2-for-5 with three runs.

Dixie Heights has been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 12 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-11-1 record this season. As for Western Brown, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
