The Hobart Brickies will square off against the Hammond Morton Governors at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.
Chesterton hit Hobart with a six-run third inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Brickies came up short against the Trojans, falling 13-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Brickies have suffered against the Trojans since May 25, 2018.
Connor Kenjic made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, Hammond Morton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell 13-8 to Lake Station Edison.
Aiden Vibert put in work while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. Those two earned runs gave him a new career-low. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, Michael Stevens was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-2 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last seven games he's played. Marcellous McQuay was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
Hammond Morton's loss dropped their record down to 5-9. As for Hobart, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last ten matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-9 record this season.
Hobart was able to grind out a solid victory over Hammond Morton in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, winning 11-6. Will the Brickies repeat their success, or do the Governors have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
