Baseball Recap: White River's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

After low-scoring totals in their previous three contests, White River brought some dynamite into their most recent game. They blew past the Beamer Titans 19-1 on Thursday. The win was some much needed relief for the Hornets as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

Kolton Jensen was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because White River is 4-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 0-3 otherwise. Jensen was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, White River got a massive performance out of Landon Hill, who went 3-for-5 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those RBI were Hill's first of the season. Eric Garrison was another key player, scoring three runs while going 2-for-3.

White River always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .575. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The victory got White River back to even at 4-4. As for Beamer, they are on a 13-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. White River will take on rival Enumclaw at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (White River 3.5, Enumclaw 2) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Beamer is set to face off against their familiar foe Kent-Meridian at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
