Softball Recap: Wednesday's Loss Ends Lake Ridge's Winning Streak

If Lake Ridge was feeling good fresh off their 19-1 takedown of North Crowley last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Eagles took a 6-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mansfield Legacy Broncos on Wednesday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Eagles of the 2-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Scarlett Poore spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and two unearned) runs on 11 hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Lailah Murray was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. Kylee Gardner also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

With the defeat, Lake Ridge broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 7-7. As for Mansfield Legacy, they pushed their record up to 16-5 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Lake Ridge didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 6-2 victory against Boswell on the 25th. As for Mansfield Legacy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 15-0 win against North Crowley on the 28th.
