Basketball Recap: Aynor Takes a Loss

Aynor was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a hard 46-30 fall against the Waccamaw Warriors. The Blue Jackets were probably out for revenge after losing 40-30 to them when the teams met back in February of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Despite the loss, Aynor still got an impressive performance from Terianna Richardson, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds. What's more, Richardson also racked up six steals, the most she's had since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Elisha Huffman, who posted five points along with six boards and three steals.

Waccamaw's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Olivia Hodo led the charge by putting up seven points in addition to eight rebounds and four steals. With that strong performance, Hodo is now averaging an impressive 2.5 steals per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Halina Gregory, who earned two points along with seven steals and six assists.

Aynor now has a losing record at 8-9. As for Waccamaw, their victory bumped their record up to 8-11.

Aynor will face off against Conway Christian at 5:30 p.m. on January 27th. As for Waccamaw, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Georgetown at 6:00 p.m. on January 28th. Waccamaw is facing Georgetown at the right time seeing as Georgetown is stuck on an 11-game losing streak.
