Baseball Recap: Cedar Creek Wins Going Away Against Holy Spirit

Cedar Creek won the last time they faced Holy Spirit and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Pirates blew past the Spartans 11-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Pirates.

Matt Vanaman tossed a big game, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Jerry McGowan was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kevin Castillo, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.

Cedar Creek's record now sits at 14-5. As for Holy Spirit, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 16-5.

Cedar Creek will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Spartans: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
