Football Recap: Laredo LBJ Comes Up Short

Laredo LBJ came into their game on Friday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They were dealt a 42-10 loss at the hands of the United Longhorns. The Wolves were not able to make up for their defeat to the Longhorns from their previous meeting back in November of 2024.

Vicente Robles threw for 145 yards and one TD. Ivan Gonzalez was his top target, picking up 59 receiving yards.

A big part of United's victory came down to the chemistry between Jorge Luna and his top target Colt Lozano. Luna threw for 264 yards and three touchdowns while completing 72% of his passes while Lozano picked up 154 receiving yards and three scores. Lozano's receiving production has been exceptional as that marked his sixth straight game with at least 108 receiving yards.

Laredo LBJ has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-3 record this season. As for United, their record is now 7-2.

Coming up, Laredo LBJ will square off against United South at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Wolves will be up against the Panthers' rather soft defense (which has allowed 31.33 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for United, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Alexander at 7:00 p.m.
