Baseball Recap: Alta Loma Find Success

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Alta Loma ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Yorba Linda Mustangs, sneaking past 4-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Braves.

Nathaniel Pimentel looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. What's more, he gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest he's had since back in February.

On the hitting side, Alta Loma's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Michael Hamilton, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-2. Those two stolen bases gave Hamilton a new career-high.

Alta Loma's record now sits at 6-9. As for Yorba Linda, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-8.

Alta Loma and Yorba Linda could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. Alta Loma (ranked 633rd) will meet Roosevelt (ranked 241st) at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Meanwhile, Yorba Linda will challenge Aquinas at 1:00 p.m. on Monday down 275 places (303 vs. 28).
