Top 50 Florida high school football players from the Class of 2021

In this pass-heavy era of spread offenses, the best high school football players in Florida these days are the ones who get up and go get it — the football that is. 

Of the Top 50 recruits from the Class of 2021 according to 247Sports, 11 of them are wide receivers, including Alabama-bound Jacorey Brooks and Oklahoma commit Mario Williams.

Interestingly, only one of the 50 plays quarterback and he's a transfer from Illinois, IMG Academy (Bradenton, Fla.) pro-style signal caller J.J. McCarthy, who has committed to Michigan.

Almost half (24) from the list have already committed to college, with the University of Miami leading the way with five, followed by Florida and Michigan (three each) and Tennessee, Alabama and Clemson (two each).

Ranked the No. 1 athlete in the country, Williams has 28 college offers and Alabama and Georgia appear at the top of his list. "Long, streamlined athlete with a massive safety frame that would more traditionally translate to a box defender," wrote 247Sports Director of Scouting Barton Simmons.

2. Terrence Lewis, Chaminade-Madonna (Hollywood)
6-1 | 200 | OLB | Tennessee
Also ranked No. 1 in the country at his position and No. 11 overall in the country, the transfer from Northwestern (Miami) "has high-level closing speed and ability to chase plays down in pursuit," wrote 247Sports national writer Charles Power.

3. J.J. McCarthy, IMG Academy (Bradenton)

Also a transfer from Nazareth Academy, Letham is another five-star recruit and the No. 17 rated player overall in the nation. He has 26 offers and appears to be leaning to either Ohio State, LSU or Alabama.

5. Leonard Taylor, Palmetto (Miami)
6-4 | 255 | DT | Undecided
Ranked the No. 27 player overall in the nation and No. 3 DT, Taylor is "among the better defensive linemen to come out of South Florida in years," Power wrote.

6. Jason Marshall, Palmetto (Miami)
6-2 | 180 | CB | Undecided
The last of the five-star players nationally at No. 29 overall, Marshall has 28 offers including Florida, Alabama and Clemson. Also a varsity basketball player, Marshall "has the look of a new-age cornerback given his length," 247Sports Miami Insider Andrew Ivins said.

7. Tunmise Adeleye, IMG Academy (Bradenton)
6-3 | 240 | DE | Ohio State
A transfer from Tompkins (Katy, Texas), Adeleye is ranked the fourth best defensive end in the country and No. 30 player overall.

8. Jacorey Brooks, Booker T. Washington (Miami)
6-3 | 185 | WR | Alabama
"A big body with a long wingspan and long stride," is how Ivins describes Brooks, who is ranked the third best receiver in the country. Alabama is one of his 29 college offers.

9. Mario Williams Plant City
5-10 | 165 | WR | Oklahoma
Don't be fooled by the smallish frame. "He has the build to be able to carry some additional weight in college and be sturdy and durable," Simmons wrote. "Quick, twitchy athlete." He's ranked the No. 4 receiver in the country.



10. Dallas Turner St. Thomas Aquinas (Fort Lauderdale)
6-4 | 235 | DE | Undecided
Ranked the No. 2 defensive end in the country behind Adeleye, Turner has 32 offers and it appears he's wide open. Alabama, Georgia, Michigan, Oklahoma and Stanford are at the top of his list thus far. "Explosive out of his stance, screaming off the edge," Ivins wrote.

11. Xavian Sorey, Graceville
6-3 | 215 | LB | Undecided
Ranked the No. 5 outside linebacker in the country and No. 64 overall recruit, Sorey has 22 offers including Alabama, Florida and Georgia. Though he'll be a LB in college, he has versatility to be used as a running back, fullback, tight end and rover, according to Simmons. 

12. Agiye Hall Bloomingdale (Valrico)
6-3 | 190 | WR | Alabama
Another wide receiver heading to Tuscaloosa, Hall is ranked the 13th best receiver in the country and No. 74 recruit overall. "A long, gifted athlete who tests very well in combine settings," Power wrote. He transferred from Armwood.

13. Brandon Jennings, Sandalwood (Jacksonville)
6-4 | 225 | LB | Florida State
Ranked sixth at his position nationally and 77th overall, Jennings can play inside or outside linebacker in college, Simmons wrote: "Pops on tape with his physicality and violence on contact."

14. Corey Collier, Palmetto (Miami)
6-2 | 170 | S | Undecided
A third defender on this list from Palmetto, Collier has a reported 36 offers, including LSU, Clemson, Georgia and Florida. "An intelligent defender with good ball skills that knows how to take the right angles," Ivins wrote.

15. Cade Denhoff, Lakeland Christian (Lakeland)
6-5 | 235 | DE | Clemson
Had 92 tackles and 11 sacks last season for the 10-2 Vikings. A very good basketball player, Denhoff is "extremely coordinated...and plays with good balance and body control. Significant upside," Simmons wrote.

16. Tyreak Sapp, St. Thomas Aquinas (Fort Lauderdale)
6-3 | 255 | DE | Florida
6-5 | 318 | OG | Clemson
Ranked No. 100 overall in the country and the fifth best guard, Tate is a former basketball player. He is "one of the more promising offensive linemen to come out of South Florida in recent cycles," Ivins wrote.



18. Lovasea Carroll, IMG Academy (Bradenton)
6-1 | 190 | RB | Georgia
After rushing for 1,446 yards and 19 touchdowns as a sophomore at Warren County (Warrenton, Ga.), Carroll averaged 10 yards per carry and scored eight touchdowns last season at IMG Academy. He's ranked the No. 7 RB in the country.

19. Troy Stellato, Cardinal Gibbons (Fort Lauderdale)
6-0 | 175 | WR | Undecided
Yet another great receiver from South Florida, Stellato has a staggering 43 college offers, including from Clemson, Ohio State and Alabama. "Excels on crossing routes and in catch-and-run situations," Power wrote.

20. Christian Leary, Edgewater (Orlando)
5-9 | 180 | WR | Undecided
Yet another top receiver, Leary also has 43 offers with apparent front-runners Alabama, Auburn, Florida and Oklahoma. He has run a 10.50 100-meter dash and 21.92 in the 200 on the track. "Skilled in the open field, whether it's in catch and run situations, as a rusher or a return man," Power wrote.

21. Romello Brinson, Northwestern (Miami, Fla.)
6-2 | 180 | WR | Undecided

Ranked 11th at his position in the country, Langston is a four-star athlete. "Has a low center of gravity which allows him to bend out on the edge and get to the quarterback," Ivins said. Florida and LSU are showing the most interest right now among his 17 offers, according to 247Sports.

23. Michael Trigg, Seffner Christian (Seffner)
6-4 | 208 | TE | Undecided
The fifth-ranked tight end in the country, Trigg did it all for the Crusaders last season, including 82 catches for 1,232 yards and 16 touchdowns. He also played QB (24 of 38, 242 yards) and RB (196 yards rushing, five touchdowns). He has a reported 48 offers, but appears most interested in Auburn, Florida State and South Carolina. "Natural hands, good body control and ball skills," Simmons wrote.

24. Laurence Seymore, Central (Miami)
6-2 | 293 | OG | Miami
Ranked the ninth best guard in the country, Seymore was a second-team MaxPreps Junior All-American for a team that went 12-3 and won a 6A state crown. "Physical finisher who doesn't pass up an opportunity to lay a lick or bury his target," Ivins wrote.



25. Bralon Brown, St. Thomas Aquinas (Fort Lauderdale)
6-3 | 190 | WR | Ole Miss
A transfer from Chaminade-Madonna, Brown enters STA with 55 career catches, 776 yards and seven touchdowns. "One of the more physically imposing wide receivers in South Florida," Ivins wrote. "Has the looks almost of a college player."

26. Jacolby George, Plantation
5-11 | 170 | WR | Undecided
Has 11 offers, including Miami, Georgia Tech and Penn State. "A crafty route runner who gets quickly in and out of his breaks," Ivins wrote. "Makes difficult catches look relatively easy."

27. Trevonte Rucker, Vanguard (Ocala)
6-0 | 157 | WR | Florida
Yet another receiver has 53 career catches for 953 yards and 13 touchdowns. Figures to gain a lot of weight by college. "A natural when it comes to catching the ball," Ivins said. "Can get open deep, but the best part of his game seems to be picking up yards after the catch."

28. Ahmari Harvey, Florida State University High School (Tallahassee)
5-11 | 171 | S | Undecided
Has 21 offers, but Florida and Florida State appear to be the front-runners. Ranked the 14th best safety in the nation. "A natural playmaker with great ball skills," Ivins said.

29. Terrion Arnold, St. John Paul II (Tallahassee)
6-2 | 187 | S | Undecided
Has plenty of options with 45 offers, including Alabama, Florida and Florida State. "A twitchy athlete with a compact build and a bounce to his step," Ivins said.

30. Jabari Ishmael, Columbus (Miami)
6-5 | 210 | DE | Undecided
The 14th-rated defensive end in the country, Ishmael is a four-star recruit. He has 19 offers but appears to be leaning toward Miami. "Has a terrific reach," Ivins said. "Most effective in passing situations when he's able to get outside."

Yet another defensive end, Boone has 33 college offers with Alabama, Auburn and Florida State being his front-runners according to 247Sports. "Versatile lineman with the ability to line up at multiple spots on the defensive line," wrote National Recruiting Analyst Greg Biggins.

32. Thad Franklin, Chaminade-Madonna (Hollywood)
6-0 | 225 | RB | Miami
Ranked sixth in the state among schools reporting statistics to MaxPreps last season with 2,282 rushing yards and 28 touchdowns. He has career totals of 4,379 yards rushing and 47 scores. "Powerfully built prospect," Simmons wrote. "Durable and tough runner. Falls forward. Presses the hole effectively and can find cut-back lanes."



33. Marcus Burke, Trinity Christian Academy (Jacksonville)
6-3 | 180 | WR | Undecided
In 11 games last season, he had 37 catches for 831 yards and nine touchdowns. He has 22 college offers, including Florida, which appears to be the front-runner. "A good-sized wide receiver who is long enough to play on the outside, but agile enough to also work inside," Ivins wrote.

34. Keanu Koht, Vero Beach
6-4 | 215 | DE | Undecided
Ranked the 17th best defensive end in the country, has 42 offers including Alabama, LSU, Auburn, Florida and Georgia.

35. Charles Montgomery, Armwood (Seffner)
5-10 | 185 | Athlete | Florida
He's rushed for 1,651 yards and 24 touchdowns in his career and caught 68 passes for 1,300 yards and 11 more TDs. Montgomery can do it all. "Can produce long gains out of the slot as his straight-line speed often proves he's a mismatch for opposing defenses," Ivins wrote.

36. Savion Collins, Palmetto (Miami)
6-4 | 290 | DT | Miami

Yet another four-star athlete, Jackson is ranked the 15th best safety in the country. He has 35 offers and appears to be leaning toward either Florida State, Ole Miss or Tennessee. "Makes a hit," Ivins said. "Gets downhill in a hurry. Plays a violent brand of football."

40. Omarion Cooper, Lehigh (Lehigh Acres)
6-0 | 170 | CB | Undecided
There are 27 offers on the table for Cooper, including Tennessee, Penn State, Louisville and Florida State. "Comfortable in man coverage," Ivins said. "Solid ball skills and instincts. The type of prospect that has his best football ahead of him."

41. Kamar Wilcoxson, IMG Academy
6-1 | 183 | S | Tennessee
Another college-bound player for the Ascenders, Wilcoxson is "a versatile defensive back who could end up at corner or safety in college," Biggins said. "Has a safety frame, but shows a lot of range and does a nice job making plays sideline to sideline."

The No. 20 rated CB in the country, Brown has 20 offers and appears to be leaning toward either Florida or Auburn.

43. Tommi Hill Edgewater (Orlando)

Ranked the 16th best athlete in the country overall, Hill has 29 offers but looks ready to make the jump to Arizona State. Other schools in the mix appear to be Mississippi State, Nebraska and Oklahoma.

44. James BlackStrain, Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy (Melbourne)

Can we say wide receiver one more time? Picked Georgia Tech over 32 other schools that made him offers. He missed all of last season with an ACL tear.

45. Philip Riley Bloomingdale (Valrico)

Ranked the No. 21 cornerback in the country, Riley is "a physical cover corner with instincts and technique that is ideal for the position," Huffman wrote. "Technically sound in both zone and man."

46. Gage Wilcox, Jefferson (Tampa)

Ranked the 11th best tight end in the country, Wilcox had 20 catches last season and seven went for touchdowns. He also had three sacks on defense. Has good speed (4.80 40) for a tight end.

47. Yulkeith Brown, Central (Miami)
5-10 | 174 | ATH | Undecided
Ranked the 18th top athlete in the country, Brown has 28 offers, including defending national champion LSU, Miami, Penn State and Texas A&M. Has excellent speed (11.04 in 100 meters) and recorded a 31.5-inch vertical.

48. Jaydon Hood, St. Thomas Aquinas
6-1 | 212 | LB | Michigan
The connection between the Wolverines and South Florida continues. Hood had 23 other offers but picked Jim Harbaugh and his squad last week. The three-sport athlete also runs track and wrestles. A transfer from Cardinal Newman, he led that team with 115 tackles and seven sacks last season.



49. Kamren Kinchens, Northwestern (Miami)
5-11 | 190 | S | Undecided
The four-star athlete has 29 offers, including Auburn, LSU and Miami. He's got 4.6 speed in the 40 and recorded a 31.70 vertical jump. He's ranked the No. 19 safety in the country.

50. Michael McLaughlin, Stoneman Douglas (Parkland)
6-7 | 255 | OT | Miami
He picked the Hurricanes over 19 other schools that extended offers. A basketball standout, McLaughlin moves very well and needs a little time to add some bulk. "Plays through the whistle and shows the ability to be dominant as a run blocker," Biggins said.
