Basketball Game Preview: Catoctin Cougars vs. Smithsburg Leopards

The Catoctin Cougars and the Smithsburg Leopards will compete for holiday cheer at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both have had a bumpy ride up to this point with nine consecutive losses dating back to last season for Catoctin and four for Smithsburg dating back to last season.

Catoctin is headed into the match out to prove that what happened against North Hagerstown on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Catoctin had to suffer through a 92-27 loss at the hands of North Hagerstown. The Cougars were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 50-13.

Meanwhile, Smithsburg took a blow against Williamsport on Thursday, falling 72-37. The Leopards were down 50-23 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Smithsburg's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Catoctin, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 0-3.

Catoctin ended up a good deal behind Smithsburg in their previous meeting back in January, losing 66-48. Can Catoctin avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
