Basketball Game Preview: Campbell Indians vs. Hughes Springs Mustangs

The Campbell Indians will head out to square off against the Hughes Springs Mustangs at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Campbell is looking for their season's first win.

Campbell is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Sulphur Bluff on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Campbell had to suffer through a 63-25 loss at the hands of Sulphur Bluff. The Indians were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 33-13.

Meanwhile, Hughes Springs was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 43-37 heartbreaker at the hands of Avinger. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1251st, while the Indians are ranked 418th).

Campbell's loss dropped their record down to 0-10. As for Hughes Springs, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-12.

Campbell took their victory against Hughes Springs in their previous meeting back in November of 2023 by a conclusive 41-15. Will Campbell repeat their success, or does Hughes Springs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
