Volleyball Recap: Newark Extends Winning Streak to Four

Newark entered their tilt with Lancaster on Thursday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They put the hurt on the Golden Gales with a sharp 3-0 victory. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 3-0 back in September.

Newark walked away with the win (and looked especially good in the third set). The match finished with set scores of 25-23, 26-24, 25-14.

Makayla Meister paced Newark's offense, picking up 18 kills. Meister got some help from Peyton Sherman and her 34 assists. Emma Morgan controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Despite the loss, Lancaster saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Hadley Truex had six digs and two aces.

Newark's victory bumped their record up to 17-5. As for Lancaster, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 9-13.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Newark will be taking part in a tournament against Central Crossing at 6:00 p.m. on the 21st. As for Lancaster, after both having extra time off, they and Hilliard Davidson will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 6:00 p.m. on the 20th.
