The Thayer Bobcats are taking a road trip to challenge the Houston Tigers at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Thayer will be strutting in after a victory while Houston will be coming in after a loss.
It was a proper cat-fight when Thayer took on Winona on Tuesday. The Bobcats were the clear victors by a 21-3 margin over the Wildcats. The win continues a trend for the Bobcats in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now won six in a row.
Carter Nicholson made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring four runs while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances.

In other batting news, Devin Harrington was incredible, going a perfect 5-for-5 with one home run, four runs, and five RBI. He has become a key player for Thayer: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 2-4 otherwise. Cooper Clark was another key player, scoring three runs while getting on base in five of his six plate appearances.
Thayer always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .640. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Houston was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took an 11-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of Norwood.
Aaden Scantlin made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Evan Edwards also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.
Thayer pushed their record up to 6-4 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.3 runs over those games. As for Houston, their loss dropped their record down to 6-9.
Houston's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Thayer has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .523. It's a different story for Houston, though, as they've only averaged .296.
