Softball Game Preview: Line Mountain Eagles vs. Williamson Warriors

The Line Mountain Eagles will square off against the Williamson Warriors at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Williamson took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Line Mountain, who comes in off a win.

Last Wednesday, Line Mountain beat Newport 6-3.

Madylinn Grindstaff made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out 13 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits (and only one walk). Those 13 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Williamson fell victim to Cowanesque Valley and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They fell just short of the Indians by a score of 1-0. The loss continues a trend for the Warriors in their meetings with the Indians: they've now lost eight in a row.

Williamson saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lexi Smalley, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.

The victory got Line Mountain back to even at 2-2. As for Williamson, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 3-1.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Line Mountain has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Williamson struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
