Ironton lost to Portsmouth West back in October of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Saturday. The Fighting Tigers narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Senators 2-1. The victory was some much needed relief for the Fighting Tigers as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

It was an exciting match in which no team won back-to-back sets, but at the end of the day Ironton got the one that really mattered. The final score came out to 25-18, 17-25, 28-26.

Amaya Barbour paced Ironton's offense, picking up nine kills. Barbour got some help from Lilly Lewis and her 28 assists. Finally, Barbour was also a dominant defender, finishing with a team-high five blocks.

Ironton's win bumped their record up to 3-4. As for Portsmouth West, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-5.

Ironton wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 3-0 defeat against Minford on the 8th. As for Portsmouth West, they have also already played their next game, a 3-0 loss against Wheelersburg on the 9th.
