Basketball Recap: New Castle Picks Up Eighth Consecutive Victory

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but New Castle had no problem doing just that on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Butler Golden Tornado as they made off with a 64-43 win. The Hurricanes have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten contests by 20 points or more this season.

New Castle's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kai Cox, who went 6-for-11 to rack up 16 points in addition to seven rebounds and six assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Damian Harrison, who dropped a double-double with 14 points and 13 boards.

The win was the eighth in a row for New Castle, bringing their record for this year to 20-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.5 points over those games. As for Butler, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-7.

Looking ahead, New Castle will take on Mt. Lebanon at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Mt. Lebanon knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past five matchups -- so hopefully New Castle likes a good challenge. Butler does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
