Basketball Recap: Ryan Demarco's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Old Forge over Riverside

If Old Forge was riding high fresh off their 87-41 takedown of Western Wayne last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Old Forge Blue Devils took a 60-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Riverside Vikings on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Blue Devils can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 130th, while the Vikings are ranked 33rd).

Several Blue Devils players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ryan Demarco, who posted 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Fanning, who put up ten points and six boards.

Old Forge's defeat dropped their record down to 15-5. As for Riverside, their win was their 19th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 19-1.

Looking ahead, Old Forge will face off against Mid Valley at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Riverside, they will take on Lakeland at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Riverside knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past four matchups -- so hopefully Lakeland likes a good challenge.
