Preview: Cummings Cavaliers vs. Jordan-Matthews Jets

Cummings and Jordan-Matthews are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2015, but not for long. The Cummings Cavaliers will be home for the holidays to greet the Jordan-Matthews Jets at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Cummings is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.

Last Thursday, Cummings suffered a tough 51-25 loss at the hands of Williams. While losing is never fun, Cummings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 540th, while Williams is ranked 136th).

Meanwhile, Jordan-Matthews had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They snuck past North Moore with a 30-24 victory on Friday. The win was just what Jordan-Matthews needed coming off of a 58-13 loss in their prior contest.

Jordan-Matthews got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Lia Carter out in front who scored six points along with 11 steals. Those 11 steals set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Saniya White, who scored six points along with five steals.

Cummings' defeat was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-4. As for Jordan-Matthews, they now have a winning record of 4-3.

Cummings was able to grind out a solid victory over Jordan-Matthews in their previous meeting back in January, winning 45-32. Does Cummings have another victory up their sleeve, or will Jordan-Matthews turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
