Football Recap: Hickory Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Hickory lost against King's Fork back in November of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Hawks came up short against the Bulldogs, falling 39-17. While losing is never fun, the Hawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia football rankings (they are ranked 129th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 27th).

Hickory's loss was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-5. As for King's Fork, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 7-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Hickory will challenge Grassfield at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Hawks will be up against the Grizzlies' rather soft defense (which has allowed 56.13 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for King's Fork, they will face off against Indian River at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Bulldogs 14.9, the Braves 13.6) so any points scored will be well earned.
