League recap: Pace blown out by Choctawhatchee

6A District 1 recap November 19, 2013

Pace lost to Choctawhatchee 47-10 last week, the largest margin of any game. Quaide Weimerskirch ran for 145 yards in the defeat.

Milton made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 2,982 from 3,094. The improvement was the result of a 24-17 victory over the Panthers last week.

Pace's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Daniel Smyers threw for 78 yards and Trey Steelman had 32 yards receiving. On the ground Weimerskirch contributed 145 yards. Jacob Sherrard helped Pace's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 22 yards.

Weimerskirch was a passing and rushing force as Mickey Lindsey's team fell to the Indians. Weimerskirch's favorite target this week was Steelman, who caught 3 passes for 32 yards.

Smyers put up the best numbers through the air as the Patriots lost to Choctawhatchee.

On the heels of Smyers and Weimerskirch, Pace has had great success on offense. Smyers leads the league in passing with 802 yards, while Weimerskirch has rushed for 2,308 yards this season. Washington's Jadon Jones leads the league in receiving yards with 423 on 24 catches.

Escambia led 6A District 1 in scoring this week by notching 28 points on Escambia.
