Football Recap: Springlake-Earth Takes a Loss

If Springlake-Earth was feeling good fresh off their 56-6 takedown of Happy last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Wolverines were beaten by the Whiteface Antelopes 82-48 on Friday. The defeat continues a trend for the Wolverines in their meetings with the Antelopes: they've now lost four in a row.

Despite the loss, Springlake-Earth still got an impressive performance from Froylan Agundiz, who threw for 262 yards and six touchdowns, and also rushed for 170 yards and one TD while picking up 8.5 yards per carry. Agundiz is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in each of the last five games he's played. Kaylob Frietze was Agundiz's top target, picking up 115 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

Springlake-Earth's loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Whiteface, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Springlake-Earth will venture away from home to challenge Hart at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Wolverines will need to watch out since the Longhorns have now posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season. As for Whiteface, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Wellman-Union at 7:30 p.m. on the 17th.
