Basketball Recap: St. Andrew's Lions vs. The Habersham School Patriots

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask St. Andrew). They were the clear victor by a 54-29 margin over The Habersham School Patriots on Tuesday. The Lions have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three matches by 24 points or more this season.

Avery Nein had an outrageously good game as she went 9 for 16 en route to 21 points plus two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Grace Dare, who went 7 for 10 en route to 14 points plus three steals.

St. Andrew's was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in January.

The Habersham School's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Maddie Viles, who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine rebounds, and Myla Shippy, who had nine points along with seven blocks and six rebounds. Shippy is becoming a predictor of The Habersham School's success: when she posts at least five blocks the team is 2-1 (and 0-4 when she doesn't).

St. Andrew's win ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-4. As for The Habersham School, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season.

St. Andrew's will face off against Hilton Head Prep at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for The Habersham School, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 37-34 defeat against Savannah Christian on the 5th.
