Baseball Game Preview: Avery County Vikings vs. Rosman Tigers

The Avery County Vikings will face off against the Rosman Tigers at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Avery County lost 12-3 to East Wilkes on Thursday. The Vikings have struggled against the Cardinals recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Cooper Beam was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He tossed 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Beam was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.

Beam wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Aaron King, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. Kaleb Liner also deserves some recognition as he got his first hits of the season.

Meanwhile, Rosman came up short against Avery County on Tuesday, falling 13-6. The Tigers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Quintin Forbes was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double. Tyler Rollins was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

Avery County's defeat dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Rosman, their loss dropped their record down to 4-10.

Everything went Avery County's way against Rosman in their previous matchup on Tuesday, as Avery County made off with a 13-6 victory. Will the Vikings repeat their success, or do the Tigers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
