Basketball Recap: Cumberland County Snags Fifth Victory in Last Six Games

Cumberland County hadn't done well against White County recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Cumberland County Jets secured a 76-70 W over the White County Warriors. This was payback for the Jets, who suffered a 61-44 defeat the last time these two teams met.

When it comes to explaining why White County lost, don't look at Tripp Pinion. Despite the final result, he went 15 of 28 en route to 38 points and five rebounds. Those 38 points gave Pinion a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Gage Stephenson, who posted five points and eight boards.

Cumberland County has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a massive bump to their 6-13 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.8 points per game. As for White County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-12.

Cumberland County and White County could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Tennessee Rankings. Cumberland County (ranked 290th) will meet Stone Memorial (ranked 39th) at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, White County will face off against Upperman at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday down 177 places (214 vs. 37).
