It's not every day a baseball game takes two days to determine a winner. Drake (San Anselmo, Calif.) and Marin Catholic (Kentfield, Calif.) took their game well into the night Friday and then had to resume Saturday after umpires suspended the 1-1 contest at midnight after 18 innings of play

Owen Hamilton made quick work of the second day as he belted a clutch two-out, walk-off home run in the 19th inning to dethrone Marin Catholic 2-1 and claim an MCAL championship.

Hamilton's game-winner was his team-high third bomb of the season. He also accounted for both of the Pirates' runs.



The marathon contest lasted over five hours, needed six umpires, nine pitchers and required a change in both location and climate, according to Danny Schmidt of the Marin Independent Journal.

Though the game didn't set any national or state records — it's arguably the most memorable high school baseball contest that we've had this year.
