Softball Recap: Center Moriches Wins Going Away Against Southold/Greenport

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Bayport-Blue Point, Center Moriches was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 17-1 margin over the Southold/Greenport Settlers. The Red Devils might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matches by 12 runs or more this season.

Olivia Haney made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Haney was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with three RBI and one run.

In other batting news, Ashlan Higgins was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Ella Cerillo was another key player, going 2-for-3 with four RBI and one run.

The victory got Center Moriches back to even at 6-6. As for Southold/Greenport, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Center Moriches is set to face off against their familiar foe Babylon at 4:29 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Southold/Greenport will take on rival Bayport-Blue Point at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
