Baseball Recap: Spanish Fork Takes Down Alta in a Playoff Battle

It's playoff time, and Spanish Fork had no trouble coming through when it counted. Everything went their way against the Alta Hawks on Wednesday as they made off with an 11-1 win. That looming 11-1 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Dons yet this season.

Kayden Lambson tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits.

On the hitting side, Nixon Warren was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. He is becoming a predictor of Spanish Fork's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 5-1 (and 7-15 when he doesn't). Boston Duvall was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

The victory was the fourth in a row for Spanish Fork, bringing their record up to 12-16. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for Alta, their defeat dropped their record down to 19-7.

Spanish Fork will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Hawks: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday.
