Softball Recap: Jaiden Gentile Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Deer Lakes

Plum won against Burrell on Monday with ten runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. The Mustangs didn't even let the Deer Lakes Lancers on the board, marking the Mustangs' second-straight 10-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Mustangs, who have now won 11 matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Mackenzie Marotta made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits over five innings pitched. Marotta was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Plum got a big performance out of Jaiden Gentile, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Brooke Bernosky, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Plum was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive games.

Plum's record now sits at 16-4. As for Deer Lakes, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-12 record this season.

Plum does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Deer Lakes, they will challenge Fox Chapel at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
