Baseball Recap: Sandia Prep Victorious

While Sandia Prep's win against Cobre wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Sundevils narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Indians 12-10. The win continues a trend for the Sundevils in their matchups with the Indians: they've now won three in a row.

Rowan Weisler was a standout: he went 1-for-3 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Sandia Prep's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 4-5 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Landon Hardcastle, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Sandia Prep hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cobre struck out seven times.

Sandia Prep's victory bumped their record up to 8-5. As for Cobre, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-8.

Coming up, Sandia Prep will face off against Ruidoso at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Sundevils' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Warriors have averaged an impressive 8.8 runs per game this season. As for Cobre, they will challenge Hot Springs at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Indians will need to watch out since the Tigers have now posted at least ten runs in their last three contests.
