Softball Recap: Westwood Wins Going Away Against Skyline

Westwood's game last Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 16-4 margin over the Skyline Coyotes. The Warriors might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by ten runs or more this season.

Lilly Hutchison spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on six hits. Those hits were her first of the season.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Emily Stacey, who went 4-for-5 with five RBI, three runs, and one triple. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Hope Hutchins was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-5.

Westwood was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. They are undefeated (4-0) when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

The victory got Westwood back to even at 7-7-1. As for Skyline, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost ten of their last 11 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-15 record this season.

Westwood has already played their next matchup, a 15-9 win against Dobson on the 2nd. As for Skyline, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 21-1 loss against Red Mountain on the 1st.
