Baseball Recap: Lake Country Lutheran Takes Down Cambridge in a Playoff Battle

With a playoff win on the line, Lake Country Lutheran rose to the challenge on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 6-0 margin over the Cambridge Bluejays. The Lightning might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 matches by six runs or more this season.

Grant Manthei made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over seven innings pitched. Manthei was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one RBI.

In other batting news, Preston Manthei was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played. Jack Poellot was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

The victory was the fifth in a row for Lake Country Lutheran, bringing their record up to 19-5-1. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for Cambridge, their defeat dropped their record down to 17-9.

Lake Country Lutheran wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 12-2 victory against Dominican on the 4th. Cambridge does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
