Softball Game Preview: Bellport Clippers vs. Hampton Bays Baymen

Bellport is on a five-game streak of home losses dating back to last season, and Hampton Bays a four-game streak of away losses also dating back to last season. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Tuesday. The Bellport Clippers will welcome the Hampton Bays Baymen at 4:00 p.m.

Bellport lost 19-3 to William Floyd two weeks ago.

Meanwhile, Hampton Bays came into Monday's match having lost five straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They came out on top against Shoreham-Wading River by a score of 10-7 on Monday. The Baymen's hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Emma Grunewald spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and three unearned) runs on eight hits.

At the plate, Hampton Bays got a massive performance out of Maddie Warn, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most hits Warn has posted since back in April of 2024. Louise Brumagin was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

Hampton Bays' win bumped their record up to 2-7. As for Bellport, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Bellport took their victory against Hampton Bays when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 18-1 score. Do the Clippers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Baymen turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
