Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Kyann Senior and Leah Dewitt Lead Marietta to Victory

There's no place like home for Marietta, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Thursday. They blew past the Walton Raiders 57-33 on Tuesday. The score was close at the half, but the Blue Devils pulled away in the second half with 35 points.

Leading Marietta to victory were Leah DeWitt and Kyann Senior. DeWitt went 11 for 15 en route to 25 points in addition to six rebounds and three blocks, while Senior dropped a double-double on 17 points and 15 boards. That makes it eight consecutive games in which DeWitt has scored at least a third of Marietta's points. Another player making a difference was Mckenzie Everett, who posted six points along with three steals and three blocks.

Marietta smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 17 consecutive matchups.

Despite the loss, Walton saw an underclassman step up: freshman Julianna McNeely scored eight points. That's the most points McNeely has posted since back in November of 2024.

Marietta's win bumped their record up to 10-7. As for Walton, they moved to 9-9 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Marietta will face off against Wheeler at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Marietta is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.4 points per game this season. As for Walton, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Cherokee at 6:00 p.m. One thing working in Cherokee's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
