Basketball Recap: Ellicottville Takes a Loss

Ellicottville lost against Salamanca last Thursday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Ellicottville Eagles fell just short of the Salamanca Warriors by a score of 51-48. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Eagles have suffered since December 6, 2024.

Leilene Mccomber went supernova for Salamanca, going 5-for-10 to rack up 24 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals. The dominant performance gave Mccomber a new career-high in points. Makenzie Crouse was another key player, putting up four points along with 12 boards and five steals.

Ellicottville is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-4. The slump could be explained by some tough opposition over that stretch, namely Salamanca, Pine Valley Central, and Salamanca. As for Salamanca, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season.

Ellicottville does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Salamanca, they will venture away from home to take on Pine Valley Central at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
