Basketball Recap: AJ Scheifley's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Antietam over Upper Merion Area

Antietam suffered their closest loss since February 2, 2024 on Saturday. They fell just short of the Upper Merion Area Vikings by a score of 47-44. The game marked the Mountaineers' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Several Mountaineers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was AJ Scheifley, who went 7 of 15 en route to 17 points and six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Josiah Maradey, who posted nine points along with six rebounds and six steals.

Antietam dropped their record down to 6-5 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Upper Merion Area, with the victory, they broke their 13-game losing streak and moved their record to 1-8.

Antietam will be playing in front of their home fans against Daniel Boone at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Upper Merion Area, they will venture away from home to face off against Methacton at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
