Softball Recap: Biloxi Find Success

Biloxi's game last Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. They came out on top against the Picayune Maroon Tide by a score of 8-5. This was payback for the Indians, who suffered an 11-5 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Kylie Mckay spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on five hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Symaria (Sammie) Edmond, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Kayla Pilato also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Biloxi's win bumped their record up to 12-13. As for Picayune, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-15 record this season.

Biloxi will challenge Ocean Springs at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Indians' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Greyhounds have averaged an impressive 6.6 runs per game this season. As for Picayune, they will face off against Hancock at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The Hawks will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Maroon Tide surely won't give up without a fight.
