Softball Recap: Guerin Catholic Find Success

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Indianapolis Bishop Chatard, Guerin Catholic was happy to have turned things around on Monday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Warren Central Warriors a 6-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Golden Eagles, who have now won three contests by six runs or more so far this season.

The result came thanks to Ava Augustinovicz's shutout, as she gave up just two hits and racked up 11 Ks. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.3 strikeouts per game.

At the plate, Jillian Davis and Lucy Kemp did most of the damage at the plate: Davis went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one stolen base, while Kemp went 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooklyn Fritsche, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one stolen base.

Guerin Catholic hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in four consecutive matchups.

Guerin Catholic now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Warren Central, their loss dropped their record down to 3-7.

Looking ahead, Guerin Catholic will head out to square off against Lafayette Central Catholic at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Warren Central, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Lawrence North at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Warriors are facing the Wildcats at the right time seeing as the Wildcats are stuck on a six-game losing streak.
