Soccer Game Preview: Jasper vs. Bridge City

The Jasper Bulldogs will venture away from home to challenge the Bridge City Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Jasper is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last six games.

Jasper's defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 1-0 victory over Little Cypress-Mauriceville. Given the Bulldogs' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 337th, while the Bears are ranked 747th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Jasper's one-goal win came courtesy of Alejandro Zamarron, who's now up to eight this season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Bridge City). They were the clear victor by a 9-2 margin over Vidor on Tuesday. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 6-0.

Jasper pushed their record up to 10-2-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 14 goals over those five matches. As for Bridge City, their victory bumped their record up to 8-4.
