David Chong and Qasim Boyd secure win for Dickinson

The Dickinson Gators had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 20.5 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Tuesday. They blew past Clear Brook 81-56. Given Dickinson's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 289th, while Clear Brook is ranked 640th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Leading Dickinson to victory were David Chong and Qasim Boyd. Chong scored 17 points along with five rebounds and two steals, while Boyd scored 30 points along with six assists and three steals. Boyd has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last nine times he's played. Diego Sanchez was another key contributor, scoring four points along with ten rebounds and two steals.

Dickinson is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matches, which provided a massive bump to their 13-17 record this season. As for Clear Brook, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 11 of their last 14 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-20 record this season.

Dickinson will head out on the road to square off against Clear Springs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Clear Springs is on a eight-game streak of home wins, Dickinson a five-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. Clear Brook will take on Clear Falls at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Clear Brook is facing Clear Falls at the right time seeing as Clear Falls is stuck on a eight-game losing streak.
