Recap: Lake Hornets vs. Loyd Star Hornets
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for The Lake Hornets, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They and Loyd Star were almost perfectly matched up on Friday, but Lake suffered an agonizing 21-20 loss. Lake was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Loyd Star apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September of 2014.
Loyd Star was led to victory by Omarion Clay and Jordyn Kees. Clay picked up 98 receiving yards and a touchdown, while Kees rushed for 76 yards and a touchdown.
Lake has been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season. As for Loyd Star, the victory (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 10-1.
Lake does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Loyd Star will take on Collins at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Mississippi (Collins is ranked 154th, while Loyd Star is ranked 163rd).
