Baseball Recap: Plum Mustangs vs. North Allegheny Tigers
If Plum was feeling good fresh off their 14-6 takedown of Armstrong last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Mustangs fell just short of the North Allegheny Tigers by a score of 7-6 on Thursday. The Mustangs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Tigers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.
Jake Dombkowski was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Dombkowski was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-2.
Dombkowski wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Max Vollmer, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Enzo Mele was another, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one double.
Having lost for the first time this season, Plum fell to 4-1. As for North Allegheny, the win got them back to even at 2-2.
Plum has already played their next contest, a 4-1 victory against Penn-Trafford on the 7th. As for North Allegheny, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 3-1 win against Butler on the 7th.
