Basketball Recap: Red Mountain Snaps Nine-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Red Mountain entered their match against Gilbert on Friday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Red Mountain Mountain Lions took a 57-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Gilbert Tigers. The Mountain Lions were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Tigers earlier this season, when they won 57-50.

Despite the loss, Red Mountain saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Travon Darby went 10 of 16 en route to 24 points and five assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Darby has scored all season. Pietro Dimuzio was another key player, putting up six points.

Red Mountain's defeat ended a nine-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 14-5. As for Gilbert, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-10.

Red Mountain didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 54-43 victory against Mesa on the 28th. As for Gilbert, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 72-39 loss against Highland on the 28th.
