Baseball Game Preview: Hope Of Detroit Academy vs. Ecorse Raiders

Hope Of Detroit Academy will venture away from home to square off against the Ecorse Raiders at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Hope Of Detroit Academy has struggled recently with three defeats in a row, while Ecorse will arrive with 11 straight wins.

Hope Of Detroit Academy fell victim to Edison Academy and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They came up short against the Pioneers, falling 14-0.

Meanwhile, Ecorse made easy work of Hamtramck on Wednesday and carried off a 16-5 victory. The Raiders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matches by nine runs or more this season.

Darwin Udenata was excellent, going 2-for-3 with three runs and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael Barclay, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with four RBI.

Ecorse always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .571 or higher in three consecutive contests.

Ecorse's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-2. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.8 runs over those games. As for Hope Of Detroit Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 2-5.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Hope Of Detroit Academy has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Ecorse struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.6 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
