Baseball Recap: Sidney Snaps Six-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

Sidney had lost six games on the road, but after bumping their record up to 5-14 on Friday that streak is in the rearview. They walked away with a 10-5 victory over the Greenville Green Wave. Surprisingly, this marked the Yellowjackets' sixth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Michael Frazier tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up five earned runs off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Eli McKenzie was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashton Rose, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Sidney kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.1 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matchups they've averaged 10.

As for Greenville, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last ten contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-13 record this season. Surprisingly, this marked their sixth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

On Greenville's side, Carson Good and Jackson Eberwein did some serious damage despite the final result: Good got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI, while Eberwein went 2-for-4 with two runs and one double.

Coming up, Sidney will venture away from home to square off against Lebanon at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Greenville, they will host Bradford at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
