Softball Recap: Seymour's Losing Streak Snapped at Six Games

Seymour's game last Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Northview Academy Cougars a 6-0 shutout. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Eagles as it put an end to their six-game losing streak dating back to last season.

Makenna Wright made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over seven innings pitched. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.6 strikeouts per game. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in hits.

In other batting news, Emily Schultz was incredible, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while going 3-for-4. Those stolen bases marked the first that she snagged this season. Another player making a difference was Baylee Lawson, who scored a run while going 1-for-4.

Seymour's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Northview Academy, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. It'll be a Battle of the Birds when Seymour Eagles face off against Fulton Falcons at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Northview Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Cocke County at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
