Baseball Game Preview: Loyola College Prep Flyers vs. Northwood Falcons

For the second straight game, Loyola College Prep will face off against Northwood. The Flyers will be playing at home against the Falcons at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Loyola College Prep took a 11-run loss the last time they faced off against Northwood, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Flyers narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Falcons 9-8. The game was the first time the Flyers have beaten the Falcons on their field since April 3, 2021.

Hayden Horton made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed 3.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Will Pickett was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-4. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in March. John Luke Lauve was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.

Loyola College Prep has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-8-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.3 runs over those games. As for Northwood, their defeat ended a nine-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 18-4.
