Basketball Recap: Lucy Beckham Takes a Loss

Lucy Beckham was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They fell 53-42 to the Washington Patriots. While losing is never fun, the Bengals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 81st in South Carolina, while the Patriots are ranked 15th in West Virginia).

It was another big night for Mary Rivera, who went 9 for 12 on her way to 24 points for Washington. The team also got some help courtesy of Lexi Adams, who posted 11 points.

Lucy Beckham now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Washington, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 7-0.

Lucy Beckham will host Military Magnet Academy at 6:30 p.m. on January 6th. Military Magnet Academy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 61.2 points per game this season. As for Washington, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 50-44 defeat against West Springfield on the 30th.
